We love working with our hands, and we believe so much in the joy that making can bring. We are currently housed in a cosy studio in Upper Thomson where we hold craft sessions for all ages and abilities. We currently have 4 main tiers of craft workshops.
We have also been really blessed to have been commissioned to hold craft parties in public and private spaces.
Some memorable projects include popping up at public libraries for PressPlay (an annual youth arts festival conducted in the libraries throughout Singapore!), holding inspiration craft sessions for IKEA bloggers programme, and making with the public at some of our favourite places like The Artground, National Museum of Singapore, and even in malls like IMM (IMM in IMM, imagine that!)
In Merry Motion started with a birthday party (for a family friend) back in October 2011. And then it was a wedding (of Weiyan’s sister). There’s a certain kind of magic when a celebration is intentionally crafted for / when it’s not part of a template / when being on pinterest is not its end goal. With every project, we try our best to ensure that it reflects the spirit of the client in look and feel. Most of all, we aim for the celebration to last beyond the actual day; so the items designed and crafted are kept by them as embellishments for them for their home or for future celebrations.
Changing up spaces with our creations, and for a longer period of time? Yes please! We’ve been very blessed to have worked in beautiful spaces like the Esplanade, and Citylink Mall to add that dash of merry, and to set it in motion.view installations
We’ve always joked that we function like an island because we never really fit into the “event organiser or decorator” category and we do not belong to any particular “industry”. But the truth is that we have had the greatest fortune to work alongside some really talented folks from different industries in different kinds of creative projects that spar and spur us to be better.
We love collaborating with like-minded folks on social projects with great meaning and purpose creatively and in programme support, and we’ve also dabbled in art directing with craft as our main medium of communication.
